Diaphragmatic Breathing

Do you know what diaphragmatic breathing is? It’s kind of a buzzword lately. It isn’t the most glamorous part of therapy but it is so effective.

Think of breathing into the pelvic floor and expanding your rib cage in 360 degree. Fill the space where a bra line would be.

Due to the relationship between the diaphragm and pelvic floor, as well as the role of the vagus nerve, you can often calm the nervous system and body down by performing diaphragmatic breathing. I can’t even count the number of people who tell me this breathing is a game changer for their pelvic tension, pain, and even leakage and urgency.

It’s a day one lesson that I review with people over and over.
